Self Study for Technology Professionals

Here's a GREAT idea. Why don't you use completely free information and lessons off of the internet to gain the knowledge and experience to become a sought after technology professional?
The idea of teaching yourself to be a technology professional is a great idea that generally fails for most people. There's more to learning tech then simply watching Eli the Computer Guy, or taking Codecademy lessons. Many people crash and burn in their self study endeavors because they don't use simple logic to think through exactly what they are trying to accomplish.
Just A note I am a Member of the Codecademy and It 's tops in my book! You can learn as you build hands on projects at your own pace to see, if you like the coding deal and if it's right for you before, dishing out tons of cash for a just a certificate.
